Walk in honnor of Nelson Mandela
Ce dimanche après-midi, une centaine de personnes se sont réunis sous le soleil mais surtout le froid, afin d’honorer l’un des plus grands hommes du XXème et du XXIème siècles : Nelson Mandela. Après 95 ans à se battre contre l’arpatheid, 27 ans en prison pour soutenir ces idéaux, cet homme plus que respecter s’est éteint, dans sa maison, à Johannesburg, Afrique du Sud, le 05 décembre 2013. C’est donc dans une ambiance très respectueuse que se sont retrouvés Québécois et autres nationalités, un beau mélange culturel et ethnique, venus non pas pour pleurer, mais pour célébrer cette figure emblématique d’une lutte acharnée. La marche a débutée au parc Mac Kenzie-King, pour se rendre au parc Nelson Mandela quelques rues plus loin. Après un discours de l’organisatrice de l’évènement, Hala Marley, qui est aussi membre de l’organisation des droits de la personne Palestiniens et Juifs unis; nous avons pu entendre Aziz Fall, responsable du Réseau Québécois contre l’apartheid. Nous attendons maintenant les funérailles de « Madiba » qui auront lieu dimanche 15 prochain à Qunu, Afrique du sud.
This sunday afternoon, hundreds of people gathered under the sun but mostly cold, to honor one of the greatest men of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries : Nelson Mandela. After 95 years fighting against the arpatheid, 27 years in prison for supporting his thoughts, this really respected man died in his house in Johannesburg , South Africa , Dec. 5, 2013 . It is in a very friendly atmosphere that met Canadian and other nationalities, a beautiful cultural and ethnic mix , come not to cry , but to celebrate the iconic figure of a fierce battle. The walk started at MacKenzie King Park to get to Nelson Mandela Park a few blocks away . After a speech by the organizer of the event , Hala Marley/Yassin, who is also a member of the organization Human Rights Palestinian and Jewish Unity person, we could hear Aziz Fall , head of the Quebec Network against apartheid. We now wait for the funeral of » Madiba » which will take place next Sunday 15th at Qunu , South Africa .
